What are the services provided by NCMH?

We provide a number of services related to mental health.

  • A out-patient psychiatric channelling service.
  • A day-care programme, which focuses on character development / rehabilitation for individuals under treatment for mental health problems.
  • A residential facility, situated in Gorakana, Pandura, which focuses on an intense, short to medium-term rehabilitation programme for individuals with mental health and behavioural disorders. We also operate a special unit geared to accommodate senior citizens with mental health problems.
  • Counselling.
  • Specialised information and training programmes on mental health for students, governmental organisations and the private sector.

Can you consult a Psychiatrist at NCMH?

Yes, you can. Appointments can be obtained by contacting our Hotline or by visiting our Resource Centre in Colombo.


Are residential facilities available at NCMH for clients undergoing treatment for mental health problems?

Yes, residential facilities are provided at our Gorakana facility.
The Borella resource centre conducts a day-care programme, aiming to rehabilitate clients.

When Can We Come To NCMH?

NCMH is open from Monday to Friday, from 8.30am to 4.30pm, except on public holidays.
